Feb 5: Jesus' Commands Regarding Relationships

Photo and design ©2015 Lynn Rutledge

Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Take last place and be the servant of everyone else.

Love your enemies. Do good to them.

Be compassionate.

John 13:34, Mark 12:31, Luke 6:31, Mark 9:35, Luke 6:35, Luke 6:36, NLT

FEB 1: Keep Me from Sin

Lord, set up a guard for my mouth;
keep watch at the door of my lips.
Do not let my heart turn to any evil thing.

May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable to You,
Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.

Ps. 141:3-4, Ps. 19:14, HCSB

These verses are part of the Feb. 1 all-Bible devotional in Light for Each Day, Vol. 1.

Jan 12: Temporary vs. Eternal

The world in its current form is passing away.

For what is seen temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Based on His promise, we wait for a new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness will dwell.

The world with its lust is passing away, but the one who does God's will remains forever.

DEC 14: Is Anything Too Hard for the Lord?

Is anything too hard for the Lord?

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary.

Great is our Lord, and abundant in power.

God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.

With God all things are possible.

Gen. 18:14, Isa. 40:28, Ps. 147:5, 1 Cor. 6:14, Matt. 19:26, ESV

NOV 20: God's Good Gifts

God...richly gives us everything we need for our enjoyment.

Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father.

God has made everything beautiful in its own time....People should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these things are gifts from God.

Celebrate because of all the good things the Lord your God has given you.

1 Tim. 6:17; James 1:17; Eccl. 3:11, 13; Deut. 26:11, NLT

These verses are excerpted from the Nov. 20 all-Bible devotional in Light for Each Day, Vol. 2

SEP 3: Entering the Kingdom

Photo and design © 2016 Lynn Rutledge

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.

Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit...You must be born again.

Matt. 7:13-14, Mark 10:15, John 3:5,7, NIV

These verses are part of the Sep. 3 all-Bible devotional reading in Light for Each Day, Vol. 2.

Always fear the Lord.
