Rejoice in hope.

Rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

Rejoice in all the good that the Lord your God has given to you.

Be glad and rejoice,
for the Lord has done great things!

Rom. 12:12, Luke 10:20, Deut. 26:11, Joel 2:21, ESV

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

By him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible.

And in him all things hold together.

He upholds the universe by the word of his power.

John 1: 1, Col. 1:16, Col. 1:17, Heb. 1:3, ESV

Excerpt from the July 18 page in the all-scripture devotional, Light for Each Day, Vol. 2.

JUN 29: A Man's Plans and the Lord's Will

The heart of man plans his way,
but the Lord establishes his steps.

Many are the plans in the mind of a man,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Prov. 16:9, Prov. 19:21, ESV

These verses are part of the June 29 all-Bible devotional in Light for Each Day, Vol. 1.

JUN 26: Our Hope of Glory

Photo and design © 2016 Lynn Rutledge

Our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

We groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.

Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God.

Rom.8:18, Rom. 8:23, 1 John 3:2, 1 Tim. 4:10, NIV

This is part of the June 26 all-Bible devotional in Light for Each Day, Vol. 1.

JUN 22: Trees Planted by the Lord

Photo and design © 2016 Lynn Rutledge

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit.

The godly will flourish like palm trees
and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.
For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house.
They flourish in the courts of our God.

Jeremiah 17:7-8, Psalm 92:12-13, NLT

These verses are part of the June 22 all-Bible devotional in Light for Each Day, Vol. 1.

JUN 18: My Relationship With You

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. . . Apart from me you can do nothing.

Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love.

John 15:5, John 15:4-5, John 15:9-10, ESV

JUN 12: Blessed Are the Meek

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

With righteousness [Jesus] shall judge the poor,
and decide with equity for the meek of the earth.

In just a little while, the wicked will be no more;
though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there.
But the meek shall inherit the land
and delight themselves in abundant peace.

Matt. 5:5, Isaiah 11:4, Psalm 37:10-11, ESV

JUN 8: The Lord Almighty Is With Us

Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

The Lord loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.

He will be our guide even to the end.

The Lord Almighty is with us
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Ps. 124:8, Ps. 37:28, Ps. 48:14, Ps. 46:7, NIV

This is an excerpt from the June 8 page in the all-scripture devotional, Light for Each Day, Vol. 1.

JUN 3: Love One Another

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.

Through love serve one another.

Treat others the way you want them to treat you.

Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

Romans 12:10, Galatians 5:13, Luke 6:31, 1 Peter 4:8, NASB

These verses are part of the June 3 all-Bible devotional in Light for Each Day, Vol. 1.

MAY 27: Our Common Fate

All share a common destiny—the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad.

People are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.

[God] commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed.

Eccl. 9:2, Heb. 9:27, Acts 17:30-31 NIV

These verses are part of the May 27 devotional in Light for Each Day, Vol. 1.

MAY 23: Called by God

[God] called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

You...are called to belong to Jesus Christ,

called to be saints.

The God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

The promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.

1 Peter 2:9, Rom. 1:6, Rom. 1:7, 1 Peter 5:10, Acts 2:39, English Standard Version (ESV)

This is an excerpt from the May 23 page in Light for Each Day, Vol. 1.

APR 27: Be at Peace with Each Other

Photo and design © 2016 Lynn Rutledge

Be at peace with each other.

Love truth and peace.

Whoever would love life
    and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech...
They must seek peace and pursue it.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.

Mark 9:50, Zech. 8:19, 1 Pet. 3:10-11, Matt. 5:9, NIV

This is an excerpt from the April 27 devotional in Light for Each Day, Vol.1.
