I am trusting you, O Lord.

I look to you for help, O Sovereign Lord.
    You are my refuge.

You are my rock and my fortress.

I trust in your unfailing love.
Psalm 31:14; Psalm 141:8; Psalm 31:3; Psalm 13:5 (NLT)

AUG 15: God Is Sovereign

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it.

The Lord does whatever pleases him,
in the heavens and on the earth,
in the seas and all their depths.

[He] works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.

Psalm 24:1; Psalm 135:6; Ephesians 1:11 (NIV)

AUG 13: The Cost of Being My Disciple

Any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

Luke 14:33; Matthew 13:44; Matthew 13:45-46 (ESV)

AUG 10: From Death to Life

We know that we have passed from death to life.

Inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

[God] has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

1 John 3:14; 2 Corinthians 4:16; 2 Peter 1:4 (NIV)

AUG 4: Better

Better to spend your time at funerals than at parties.
    After all, everyone dies—
so the living should take this to heart.

Sorrow is better than laughter,
for sadness has a refining influence on us.

A wise person thinks a lot about death,
while a fool thinks only about having a good time.

Ecclesiastes  7:2-4 (NLT)

I will never leave you nor forsake you.

I will never break my covenant with you.

Whoever comes to me I will never cast out.

Hebrews 13:5; Judges 2:1; John 6:37 (ESV)

JUL 24: Christian Love

I have you in my heart.

Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.

I thank my God every time I remember you.

Philippians 1:7; 2 Timothy 1:3; Philippians 1:3 (NIV)

JUL 18: The Existence of the Universe

[Jesus] is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

He upholds the universe by the word of his power.

Colossians 1:17; Hebrews 1:3 (ESV)

JUL 11: The Lord Will Be Your Confidence

You are God's people.

You are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

The Lord will keep you from all evil;
    he will keep your life.

If you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

For the Lord will be your confidence.

1 Peter 2:10; 1 Peter 4:14; Psalm 121:7; Proverbs 3:24; Proverbs 3:26 (ESV)
